But one dating app is attempting to combat this, by introducing a filter that prevents users from sending nude pictures – so, even if you end up really liking each other and fancy taking the conversation to the next level, you’re going to have to do that in the privacy of your own text messages.

Every photo uploaded to the website is pushed through a filter that detects both face and nudity. The filter then goes on to score the picture and will reject it if it detects a certain level of nudity – such as the showing of genitalia.

Matt Verity, co-founder of said he was inspired to place the filter on the app after finding that the majority of online daters wanted ‘penis shots and gratuitous body flashing shots to be a thing of the past’.

Alongside the prevention of nude photos, the app is also attempting to stop people from embellishing on their profiles. This includes lying about relationships, age and career.

The app uses revolutionary ID software as used by secure websites such as Airbnb and airlines such as Easyjet to check profiles and the legitimacy behind them, making the app one of the most secure dating apps available.

There are over seven million UK users registered on dating sites and crimes associated with online dating have risen by 450% in the past five years, yet amazingly, up until now, the security measures have remained unchanged.

The new security measures employed are multi-fold and are somewhat flexible, so users can decide the level of protection they are comfortable with.
